Police Service Commission Chairman Urges Officers To Serve Selflessly

The Chairman Police Service Commission, Mr. Solomon Arase has called on Police officers to exhibit a high sense of selfless service, saying  the expectations of Nigerians from them are high.

Arase made the call at the launch of the Police Veterans’ Foundation at the Police Service Commission headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

The retired Inspector-General of Police further stated that the Police Veterans’Foundation was established to cater for the healthcare needs of Police veterans, provide insurance coverage and sponsor the business plans of the officers

He said that “many retired Police officers are facing a lot of challenges bothering on healthcare and inability to access post service benefits among others.”

According to him, the Police veterans are those officers who put their life on the line to secure the nation and it is his belief that the experience of these veterans will help in shaping the policies of the government on security of the country.

Another keynote Speaker and a retired Inpector-General of Police, Mr Aliyu Attach said that the long years of service into the Police force had instilled a sense of duty in the members of the force.

He promised a continuous support to the foundation, adding that it is time to extend the same sense of duty to the retired officers.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun who was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in Charge of Finance and Administration DIG Bala Ciroma said that the welfare of the serving and retired officers is one of the key priorities of the present administration of the force

Some other dignitaries at the event were; former Inspectors-General of Police, the representatives of the Service Chiefs and the Minister of State for Police Affairs Hajia Maryam Sumeiman.
