By Chinwe Onuigbo, Awka
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has called for greater cooperation with the State Immigration Services to ensure adequate security and combat crime in the state.
The Commissioner made the call recently when he visited the Comptroller of Immigration Service in the State, CIS Edirin Endurance Okoto in Awka, the state capital.
CP Adeoye said the essence of his visit was to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, cooperation and coordination to enable the two security organisations to combat crime effectively in the State.
The Commissioner, who expressed zero tolerance for crime, promised to sustain and cement the good working relationship already existing between his predecessor, the CIS and the two Commands, for better results in their services to the people of the State.
Responding, the Comptroller of Immigration Service in the State, CIS Okoto who received the CP in the company of some senior officers, assured him of maximum cooperation and inter-agency collaboration.
He also recalled how he and the new Commissioner had earlier carried out some operations collectively in the state during the Commissioner’s earlier missionary journey in the state, including during the last general election.
He further commended him for deeming it worthy and necessary to visit him and pledged to give the police all the necessary support to combat crime in the state.
“Security is not a one-man affair, which is why the entire sister agencies have to collaborate to achieve a common goal. Be assured of our maximum cooperation,” he said.
Highpoint of the event was the signing of the Visitors Register by the Police Commissioner and exchanging plague between the two security heads.
