Police To Strengthen Security In Delta State

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, conducted an official visit to Asaba in Delta State.

This visit is part of ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening security measures, enhancing operational capabilities, and fostering more robust partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

During the visit, the IGP met with the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori at the Government House, where he expressed his appreciation for the continuous support of the Delta State Government towards the Nigeria Police Force. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, who said the IGP  particularly commended the Governor for the generous donation of operational vehicles to the police and other security agencies under the umbrella of DELTA STATE OPERATION SWEEP, which he subsequently joined the Governor in commissioning.

The Police Chief also declared open the Police Public Relations Experts Conference, a landmark event aimed at improving public engagement strategies and fostering mutual trust between the Police and the public.

 In his address, the IGP emphasized the pivotal role of effective communication in modern policing and urged participants to harness the conference’s outcomes to strengthen Police-Community relations.

As part of his visit, the IGP met with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and the business community. 

The meeting provided a platform to deliberate on security concerns and explore collaborative solutions tailored to the unique needs of the state. At the Delta State Police Command Headquarters, the IGP commissioned the newly completed Police Officers Mess, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the welfare of officers and provide a conducive environment for professional and social engagements.

The IGP concluded his visit by addressing officers and men of the Delta State Command. 

He commended their dedication and sacrifice in maintaining law and order across the state.

IGP Egbetaku also reiterated the commitment of the Police Force to prioritizing the welfare and operational needs of personnel while urging them to remain professional, disciplined, and dedicated in the discharge of their duties. 

The Inspector-General of Police lauded the collaborative spirit exhibited by the government and people of Delta State, highlighting the critical importance of synergy between the Police and the community in achieving sustainable peace and security.
