Policies/Programmes: Minister restates commitment to accurate information

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reiterated continued commitment to ensure that citizens are well informed about the government’s policies and programmes.

He made this known while briefing journalists after a meeting with presidential media aides in Abuja.
“The Federal Government communication team is coming together once again to look at very critical areas of national development and see how we can continue to keep Nigerians informed about government programmes and policies. As always, it is our desire to keep Nigerians very well informed, consistent with the vision and determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinibu  to allow Nigerians to know what is happening in the government at all times.”

The Information Minister further reassured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s readiness to deliver all his campaign promises.

“We want to assure Nigerians once again that President Bula Ametunu’s reforms, as difficult as they may appear, are aimed at ensuring that Nigerians reach his destination of prosperity that the President talks about all the time. All over the world reforms are difficult, sometimes very difficult. Nigeria is not an exception. But I can assure you that the President is right on course. His team is very focused and is very determined to ensure that all the promises made by Mr. President to Nigerians will be kept. We are on the road to that.”

Idris further appealed to Nigerians to give the President more time, adding that the president is determined to ensuring that all the promises he made to Nigerians are kept.
“We are on the right track and we are also seeing that  the reforms are in the way that we want them to go. We appeal to Nigerians once again to give the President more time and in no time from now, the gains will be obvious for all to see. Some of this reforms and tasks that Mr. President has undertaken are not easy. Some of these reforms should have been started decades ago but I as I have said before, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver on his campaign promises to Nigerians.”

Speaking on disruption of electricity to some parts of northern Nigeria, the Minister said power has been restored to over 70 percent of the areas affected, assuring that by Sunday power would be fully restored to all the areas affected.

“On the issue of disruption of power to northern parts of the country, as you are all aware, the president has dispatched the minister of power to the area to ensure restoration of power to that part of the country. I am happy to say as you all know, the team working on that has achieved appreciable success. Over 70 percent of that has been achieved now and we do hope that by Sunday we would have power fully restored to all parts that are affected.”

The Media were commended for Identifying with government and for reporting objectively and honestly the programs and policies of government.
