Political Leaders Celebrate President-Elect Tinubu at 71

Political icons in Nigeria have extolled the exceptional personality of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he celebrates his 71st birthday in thanksgiving, sober reflection and prayers.

The annual colloquium to mark his birthday this year was cancelled, for special prayers and a thanksgiving service.

In a statement, the media aide to Tinubu, Tunde Rahman, noted that prayers are to be held in Lagos and other parts of the country.

The special prayers will be held at central mosques in each of the five divisions in the state. Tinubu, in his birthday message, called for thanksgiving, peace and unity and progress for all Nigerians.

Tinubu, a foremost politician and financial expert, has been described by many as a man of uncommon courage and tenacity who never looked back in his struggle to sustain and uphold democracy across the length and breadth of Nigeria. He has battled the challenges of difficult youth with a courage which could only be attributable to the ‘lion-hearted.’

 

Congratulatory messages

President Muhammadu Buhari while congratulating him said his friendliness and generosity have set the pace for a network of friends, home and abroad, that will shape his presidency with the requisite expertise to guide the economy and consolidate the investments of past leaders, particularly in people-first development and infrastructure.

Now, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress and President-elect of Nigeria, Nigerians have high expectations of his performance to bring the country to an enviable height.

The Last Man Standing

A film, the Last Man Standing, produced by Seun Oloketuyi, has been unveiled as a biopic of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the upcoming generation to learn from his struggles and his rise to stardom.

Tinubu, who redefined political campaigns in Nigeria by staging town hall meetings and stage rallies across Nigeria with town hall meetings and visiting inaccessible areas across the country will be sworn in as the President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.

 Biography

Born in Lagos on March 29, 1952, to the illustrious Tinubu family of Lagos State, youthful Bola left Nigeria for the United States of America in 1975 in search of the proverbial Golden Fleece with a heart brimming with unrelenting determination to achieve his visions.

On his arrival in the U.S. in 1975 and with the support of an ever-adoring mother, this courageous youth, took on menial jobs as dishwashing, night-guard and cab-driving to see himself through the initial difficulties of school at the Richard Daley College, Chicago, Illinois.

The brilliance of this young Nigerian showed in his ability to make the honours list of Richard Daley College. He subsequently transferred to the Chicago State University, Illinois, graduating with honours in 1979 and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Management).

On his return to Nigeria and with his international experience in Financial Management, young Bola joined Mobil Producing Nigeria as a Senior Auditor before he retired as the company’s Treasurer.

As a pragmatic, charitable, grassroots person, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu saw communal service as a veritable tool for social development. He served his community spearheading several financial contributions and fund-raising for community development programmes in Lagos State.

He leads Primrose Group, a political action organisation pushing for fundamental changes in the politics of Lagos State.

As President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to be sworn in as the next President of Nigeria on May 29th, 2023 at Eagle Square, Abuja. He is presently in Europe on holiday en – route to Makkah for a lesser Hajj, after hectic presidential campaigns and general elections. The President-Elect is expected back in the country before the end of April.
