Nigerian street-hop sensation Portable has returned to making music that mirrors his real-life experiences, just days after his release from detention. Known for turning his legal battles into creative fuel, the singer has teased a new track titled Oni Reason.

The release follows Portable’s recent arrest, which stemmed from a criminal defamation petition filed by Fuji icon King Saheed Osupa. In an Instagram post, the singer alluded to his ongoing legal battle in Kwara State and claimed that his life’s journey is divinely orchestrated. “My life is guided by a higher power,” Portable wrote, hinting at the divine forces at play in his life’s narrative.

This new song continues Portable’s trend of using his personal ordeals as the basis for his music. After being arrested by the Ogun State Police and declared wanted for assaulting government officials, he released the EP Most Wanted as a response. In 2024, he followed a similar pattern, releasing the Chosen EP amidst the viral “I Am a Chosen” trend, which was a popular social media movement.

Portable also dropped the track Spiderman after he was captured scaling a fence to evade arrest for failing to pay the debt on his G-Wagon Brabus. “I live for the moment, and my music tells my truth,” he shared at the time of its release.

His collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta on the hit single Tony Montana has become one of his biggest successes since Zazzu Zeh. Portable marked his time in London with the EP Tony Montana of London and later released Canadian Burger following his tour of the country in 2025.

Now, with Oni Reason, Portable continues to use his viral moments to fuel his music career, maintaining his relevance in the ever-evolving entertainment industry. “I turn my struggles into songs, and the world listens,” Portable commented, reflecting his ability to transform personal adversity into musical success.
