The Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organization (SAUGCO) has rebuked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the watch of its Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, for delaying the release of Certified True Copies (CTC) of materials used in the just concluded Anambra State Governorship Polls to enable proceedings at the Election Petitions Tribunal.

Reacting through a press statement issued in Awka and signed by its Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia, the organisation wondered why the electoral body was delaying the process.

“This could derail democratic practice and peaceful co-existence in Anambra State. This deliberate attempt to stand against the lawful conduct and democratic processes as it relates to releasing Certified True Copies (CTC) of INEC materials.”

They noted that their Governorship Candidate for the election, Sen Andy Uba, had written a letter to INEC dated November 10th, 2021 and filed on November 11th, 2021 for his tribunal matter, regretting that the materials were yet to be made available to him.

While describing the actions as shocking, Orji called for a speedy release of the materials to rescue itself from perceived damage to its reputation.

“The question is, why INEC REC is refusing to release the CTC to a candidate in an election after he has applied? They have the next 12 hours to release CTC to Andy Uba.”
