Postgraduate Medical College To Leverage AI For Better Healthcare

The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria has announced plans to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology, and innovation to enhance healthcare service delivery across the country.

The College’s National President, Dr. Peter Ebeigbe, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the opening ceremony of the 19th Annual Scientific Conference and Fellows’ Meeting (ASCAF CALIPHATE 2025) in Sokoto State.

He said the development become necessary to diversify and revolutionise Nigeria Health sector as AI is transforming every sector of life in the world.

According to him, the conference will discuss and explore the best ways to involve the private corporate sector in postgraduate medical education towards harnessing all AI opportunities in Nigeria.

“It is highly relevant for the current era to involve the Private and Corporate Health Sector into health sector. We will look in to how to partner private institutions and to also harness available human resources to achieve the college objectives,” Dr Ebeigbr said.

He noted that the meeting would review the national policy on the migration of a limited health workforce trained with the scarce national resources and move from policy to implementations.

He encouraged all esteemed associate fellows, and participants from sister colleges to make best use of the conference for sustainable health development in the country.

“ Let’s ensure that we all take this advantage to embrace the opportunity and practice in Nigeria effectively,” he added.

Dr Ebeigbe commended Ministers of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate and Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, for their continuous support to the college towards ensuring provision of professional medical workforce in the country.

He also appreciated Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for providing enabling environment for the conference.

The National President highlighted that the 19th Annual Scientific Conference will feature paper presentations by Dr Badsen Onwubere, on “ Combating the Silent Health Albatross in a Declining Economy”, Professor Idris Muhammad, on “ A Vision for Academic Medicine in Nigeria, President of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine will present on “ Post Graduate Medical Education in Nigeria: Navigating the Pathway to Future Development”, and “Redefining the Future of Postgraduate Medical Education in Nigeria: Integrating Strategies Technology,, Private Sector Synergy, Sustainable Workforce-The Case for Paediatrics by Professor Angela Okolo, and among others.
