The Federal Executive Council has approved N3.2 billion for the procurement of four power transformers for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, who revealed this to State House Correspondents, said the aim is to help improve power supply to the National Grid.
He said the new transformers would replace the current ones, which have served for over thirty-five years.
He said: “Today FEC approved two memos from the Ministry of Power the first one is for the procurement of four 150 MBA power transformers at the sum of N3.2 Billion for the TCN. These transformers are needed to replace the ones that have been in the system for the past 35 years, in order to improve the quality of power supply to the national grid and that was approved by the Federal Executive Council.”
Mamman also announced that the council approved the sum of one hundred and fifty-five point two million for the production and delivery of one million units of serialised meters, for three-meter test stations in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
