Premier League: Arsenal Beats Tottenham, Moves Eight Points Clear

Premier League leaders Arsenal moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a comfortable 2-0 victory against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling north London derby, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in England.

The Gunners featured a familiar front-three of Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli as they looked claim all three points against their rivals. For Spurs, it was Harry Kane in attack with Son Heung-min and the returning Dejan Kulusevski to the starting line-up.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 14th minute after Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris spilled a cross by Saka, fumbling the ball into his own net after a slight deflection.

Arsenal continued to press after the goal as they looked to keep control of possession while dominating. It was a brilliant first half effort from the Gunners that was then capped off with a lovely goal by captain Martin Odegaard.

England Footballer of the Year Saka was in space on the right flank and found the run of Odegaard, who fired in a stunning shot from outside the 18-yard box to beat Lloris, silencing the fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was the Premier League Player of the Month’s 8th goal of season as he continues his brilliant goalscoring form.

Mikel Arteta’s side taking their chances in spectacular fashion seeking to capitalise on Manchester City’s defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

Tottenham improved in the second half following, but they could not find a way past Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who made a string of fine saves to put up a Man-Of-the-Match performance to keep his side ahead.

The match finished 2-0 in favour of Arsenal, who sealed their first Premier League away victory against Tottenham Hotspur since 2014.

Arsenal now moves eight (8) points clear at the top of the Premier League table with 47 points from 18 games, while Spurs remain in 5th with 33 points from 19 games.

The Gunners will next face rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, while Tottenham’s next game is a mammoth Premier League clash at Manchester City on Thursday.
