The Presidency has dismissed a report by the online news platform Sahara Reporters claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to travel to the United States on Tuesday to meet with US Vice President James David Vance.

In a post shared via his verified X handle, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Mr. Temitope Ajayi, described the report as false and misleading.

Mr Ajayi noted that it had already inspired “uninformed commentaries” since its publication.

“There is a Sahara Reporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D Vance. That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by Sahara has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday. If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see a Vice President,”  he said.

The Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Bwala, had recently said in a post on his official X handle on Sunday, @BwalaDaniel, that the Nigerian leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and U.S. President Donald Trump will, in the coming days, meet to decisively address and reconcile differing positions on claims that terrorist attacks in Nigeria are directed exclusively at Christians.

Bwala emphasised that such issues affect citizens of all faiths and none.
