President Buhari laid good foundation for Tinubu – APC Professionals Forum
The APC Professionals Forum says it is convinced that President Muhammadu Buhari has laid a good foundation for Sen. Bola Tinubu to build on.
The forum said this in a statement signed by Malam Isa Yuguda, its Board of Trustees Chairman on Sunday in Abuja.
Yuguda said the Buhari’s administration had executed projects and put in place policies that the next administration could easily ride on to build a more prosperous nation.
“So much has been said about the eight years of Buhari’s administration, but contrary to the position of those who are not prepared to acknowledge its achievements, there are a number of things worth celebrating.
“As professionals in the ruling APC, we can easily point at road and rail projects, many of which have been completed, while several are ongoing, that were non-existent before 2015.
“Nigeria on Buhari’s watch could be described as a large construction site during which legacy projects like Loko-Oweto bridge and the Second Niger Bridge were completed,” he said.
Yuguda added that also completed, was the Kaduna-Kano express way among others.
He recalled that three power plants were commissioned including the 700 Mega Watts Zungeru Hydro power plant which was second only to the 760 Mega Watts Kainji Hydroelectric Power Station built in the 1960s.
Yuguda said this was aside the 25,000 MW Siemens power project which was already in its 7,000 MW phase with the delivery of the first set of transformers.
“Nigerians should also not forget how the outgoing administration broke the 20- year jinx in the oil and gas sector by ensuring the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
“The Act has now paved way for the discovery of crude oil and gas in commercial quantities in the Frontier Basins of Kolmani on the borders of Bauchi and Gombe states.
“And this is coming at a time the government has set the country on a path of economic diversification through various interventions and strategies that have boosted the non oil sector and made the economy more resilient.
“For us, it is a thing of joy that two thorough bred professionals, Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima, the Vice President-elect, would be continuing from where the Buhari administration stopped,” he said.
He added that this was why the forum was optimistic that the country under Tinubu would record more development in infrastructure and other sectors of the economy based on his antecedent as a former two-term governor of Lagos State.
Yuguda said like many Nigerians, the forum was looking forward to policies that would stimulate economic growth and uplift the living standards of the people in line with Renewed Hope agenda of the incoming Tinubu administration.
