President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerian elites to shun selfishness and unite to move the country forward.

He advised on Thursday in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

Speaking at Government House Katsina, shortly after inaugurating landmark projects executed by the State government, the Nigerian leader said:

“Our elites did not put their heads together in the years past to move the country forward. They were very selfish.

“I insist that they should think of the country more than themselves. By doing so, they can join forces for the good of the country.”

President Buhari also urged parents to ensure they give education to their children, without which he said there won’t be progress and development.

The President, who hailed Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, for delivering dividends of democracy to his people through the execution of meaningful projects, underscored the importance of infrastructure to ant society.

Commenting on the construction of a rail line from Katsina to Maradi in Niger Republic, the President said all countries must strengthen ties with their neighbours for mutual benefits.

Among the projects inaugurated by President on Thursday, were the Kofar Laura underpass and water booster station, Katsina Revenue House, Darma Rice Mill Limited, and the Katsina general hospital.

He will inaugurate more projects on Friday as he rounds off his official visit to his home State.
