The Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari has restated the political will of the present administration geared towards strengthening multilateral cooperations in the Lake Chad Region to defeat Trans-boarder crimes plaguing the nations.
The President stated this in a message at the graduating ceremony of the 43rd Course participants of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State.
President Buhari who was the Special Guest of honour at the ceremony, and represented by the Minister of Defence retired Major General Bashir Magashi, expressed optimism that asymmetric threats are surmountable if African countries work together within a clearly defined joint operational environment.
While reflecting on the national security challenges, the president said his administration is employing new tactics and deploying state powers to promote peace and tranquillity in the country, according to a statement by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
He also told the two hundred and twenty six graduands of the AFCSC to justify the investments expended on them by adding values to the counter-insurgency and anti – banditry operations while pointing out that to whom much is given much is expected.
The C-in-C therefore urged the graduands of the forty- eight weeks intensive training to be good ambassadors of the forty years old tri- service institution and reminded them that graduation is a clarion call to taking up higher duty in service to their fatherland.
President Buhari lauded what he called milestone achievements and pivotal roles, the esteemed military institution is playing in raising the bar of robust professional competences of the armed forces of the Various nations.
The Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaij, Air Vice Marshal Ebenezer Alade who had earlier conferred the prestigious title of the Pass Staff Course on the graduands said, they have been found worthy in characters, learning and professionalism.
The Armed Forces Command and Staff College which has the Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (retd) as Chairman of the Seven – man board membership was established in 1976 and has over the years of its existence attained high level developmental strides and acquired international status as a reputable citadel of Military institution in African sub – region.
