President-elect Tinubu returns to Nigeria

Nigeria’s President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu has returned to the country in company of his wife Senator Oluremi after 35 days rest abroad.

Tinubu whose private jet arrived the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja was welcomed by a large group of party supporters and stakeholders including members of the dissolved APC Presidential Campaign Council.

The President-elect will move from the airport to the Defence House in Maitama area of Abuja where he would officially stay until his inauguration on May 29.

Speaking to the tumultuous crowd who followed him home, the President-elect said: “I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead.

“Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”

Asked about about his plans for the country, he said he had been consulting and planning with a view to putting together a strong team so he could hit the ground running once he assumes office on May 29.

Recall that in a press statement by the now dissolved Presidential Campaign Council, Tinubu travelled out of Nigeria to France on March 21 to take a rest and plan ahead of his presidential inauguration.

The president-elect had left the country through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

“He decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting,” the statement disclosed.
