President Tinubu Affirms Nigeria-UK Vision For Growth , Security

The Nigerian Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says the strength of UK–Nigeria relations lies not only in shared history and policy, but in the people who actively sustain and enrich both nations.

President Tinubu affirmed that Nigeria and the United Kingdom share a common vision for growth and security, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in advancing mutual prosperity and stability

The President made these remarks at the state banquet hosted in his honour by King Charles III at Windsor Castle during his two-day official visit to the United Kingdom.

President Tinubu projected Nigeria as a resilient nation of opportunities, affirming that despite challenges, it is sustained by a vibrant population, a dynamic diaspora, and a shared vision with the United Kingdom for growth, security, and mutual prosperity.

While institutions matter greatly, our people remain the strongest bridge between our two countries.” He said.

Speaking as the first Nigerian leader to address a state banquet at Windsor Castle, President Tinubu noted that Nigeria and the United Kingdom share more than a common history, but a collective vision of progress and resilience.

The President highlighted the significant contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora, describing the community as one of the most dynamic globally.

“The Nigerian community in the United Kingdom has become one of the most dynamic diaspora communities worldwide. Nigerians contribute enormously to the vitality of this nation. Within the National Health Service, Nigerian doctors and nurses play an indispensable role in delivering healthcare. Nigerian-trained doctors are among the largest groups of international medical professionals serving the NHS.

President Tinubu also underscored the importance of the Commonwealth of Nations in strengthening ties between both countries, noting that Nigeria, as one of its largest members, remains committed to contributing meaningfully to its continued growth and relevance on the global stage.

Regional Security Concerns

Speaking on regional security concerns, the President drew attention to the complex terrorism challenges facing West Africa, particularly in the Sahel, reaffirming that collaboration with the United Kingdom remains vital in confronting these threats.

“Our West African region faces complex terrorism challenges with roots in the Sahel. Nigeria carries an enormous responsibility to help safeguard regional stability. In confronting these threats, partnership with the United Kingdom remains essential.

Despite these challenges, President Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, describing the country as one defined by diversity, innovation, and youthful energy, with citizens determined to realise their full potential..

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom would continue to deepen in the years ahead.

Also in attendance were the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu; Queen Camilla, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribad; and President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
