President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, for his dedication to promoting peace, unity, and the preservation of cultural heritage as he marks his ninth year on the ancient Benin throne.

The President praised the revered monarch for his unwavering support in addressing pressing social challenges, particularly human trafficking and illegal migration among youths in Edo State and beyond.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined the government and the people of Edo State, the traditional council, and the royal family in celebrating the milestone, describing the Oba’s reign as nearly a decade of impactful service to his kingdom and the nation.

The President also applauded Oba Ewuare II for championing a cultural renaissance, defending traditional values, and spearheading efforts that have led to the clamour for the repatriation of stolen African artefacts from Europe and other parts of the world.

As the Oba of Benin marks nine years on the revered throne of his ancestors, the President extols his leadership in preserving Benin’s cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations,” the statement noted.

President Tinubu prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the monarch, wishing him long life, good health, and more historic achievements in the service of his people and humanity.
