President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

Until his appointment, Adeyemi served as the Deputy Controller of Fire.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Retired Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin, said the appointment takes effect from 14th August, 2025.

Jibrin stated that the appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, on 13th August, 2025, upon attaining the age of 60.

“It is hoped that DCG Olumode Samuel Adeyemi will bring a wealth of experience to his new role, having transferred his service from the Federal Capital Territory FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and grown to the rank of Deputy Controller-General of Fire in the Human Resource Directorate of the Service Headquarters.

In the course of his career, the officer has attended and passed all mandatory in-service trainings and command courses, as well as other courses within and outside the country,” he said in the release.

Adenyemi has served in various capacities and is equally a member/fellow of the following professional associations, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The Board, however, extends its appreciation to the retiring Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, for his remarkable contributions to the development of the Federal Fire Service while also acknowledging his dedication and commitment to the service and the numerous initiatives he spearheaded during his period of service.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Government has extended hearty congratulations to Mr. Samuel Adeyemi Olumode on his appointment as the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a press statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Olumode’s dedication, professionalism, and service to the nation.

The state government expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what it described as “continued confidence in the capability of Kogi indigenes to contribute meaningfully to national development.”

Kogi State takes great pride in this achievement. We are confident that Mr. Olumode, in his new role, will initiate reforms and drive advancements within the Federal Fire Service, further highlighting the exceptional leadership potential from our state,” it said.

Governor Ahmed Ododo expressed his belief that Mr. Olumode’s leadership would elevate the national profile of Kogi State.
He also pledged the full support of the state government for the new Controller General as he assumes office.

Mr. Olumode’s appointment is seen as a significant boost to Kogi’s growing influence at the federal level and a testament to the state’s contribution to national public service.
