President Tinubu Appoints New Leadership In Federal Civil Service Commission

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Tunji Olaopa as the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission.
Professor Olaopa until his appointment was the Executive Vice Chairman of Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy, Bodija, Ibadan and a professor of Public Policy at the Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He was also a one-time Deputy Director/Head of the Technical Secretariat, Reform Strategy Team, and Management Services Office.
Professor Olaopa was also the Director of the External Linkages & Reforms Department at the Office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; as well as the Director of the MDAs Department at, Bureau of Public Service Reforms.
Olaopa rose to the position of Permanent Secretary in the Nigerian Civil Service.
Also nominated to serve in the Commission as members are, Dr Daudu Ibrahim Jalo (Representing Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba), Dr. Chamberlain Nwele, member representing Anambra | Ebonyi | Enugu), Mr Rufus N. Godwins, member (Representing Rivers| Delta| Bayelsa).
Other members of the Federal Civil Service Commission are Dr Adamu Hussein (Representing Niger | FCT), Mr Aminu Nabegu, Member (Representing Jigawa | Kano), Ms Hindatu Abdullahi, Member (Representing Kaduna | Katsina), Mr Shehu Aliyu, Member (Representing Kebbi | Sokoto | Zamfara), Ms Odekunle Rukiyat Aduke, Member (Representing Kogi | Kwara), ) Mr Jide Jimoh, member (Representing Lagos | Ogun), Dr Festus Oyebade, member (Representing Osun | Oyo)
President Tinubu also approved the nomination of Ms Gekpe Grace Isu as a member (Representing Akwa Ibom | Cross River), she was a former Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.
A statement signed by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale stated that these appointments are subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.
Ngelale said; “As one of fourteen Federal Executive Bodies into which Section 154 of the Nigerian Constitution (1999, Amended) empowers the president to appoint its Chairman and members.”
He said that the new FCSC leadership is expected to commence work with effect from November 30, 2023
“Upon confirmation, the new FCSC leadership is expected to commence work with effect from November 30, 2023, following the expiration of the tenure of the current Federal Civil Service Commission Chairman and membership on November 29, 2023.” he said.
The President expects that the new FCSC leadership will facilitate the transformation, reorientation, and digitization of the Federal Bureaucracy to enable enhanced private sector participation in the development of the Nigerian economy in adherence to the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
