President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday attended the opening of the 2025 Aqaba Process Summit in Rome, Italy.

It is a high-level global security meeting hosted by King Abdullah II of Jordan and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s leadership role in regional security and its commitment to deepening partnerships aimed at combating terrorism, promoting stability, and enhancing intelligence cooperation across borders.

The summit, which brings together Heads of State, government leaders, and defence officials from across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, focuses on strengthening international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational insecurity, with a special emphasis on West Africa and the Sahel region.

Other leaders attending the meeting include President Mahamat Idriss Déby of Chad, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, and Azouz Nasri, President of Algeria’s Upper House. Delegations from Côte d’Ivoire, Kazakhstan, Mauritania, Senegal, and Uzbekistan are also participating.

The Aqaba Process, launched in 2015 by King Abdullah II, serves as a strategic platform for open dialogue and collaboration among nations confronting global and regional security challenges.
