The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is building about 8,000 new Primary Healthcare Centres across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
The Minister, represented by the Zonal Director of the Federal Information Resource Centre in Kaduna, Hajia Rabi Rufa’i, made this known during the synopsis of President Tinubu’s mid-term report in Kaduna.
He stated that the initiative was part of the administration’s effort to ensure that every Nigerian has access to affordable and quality healthcare.
According to him, the Federal Government is also constructing over 70 highways simultaneously across the six geopolitical zones to improve road accessibility.
He said that Nigeria’s economy recorded a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 3.4 per cent in 2024, the second highest in the last 10 years.
“The Federal Government has successfully reduced Nigeria’s budget deficits from 50 per cent in 2023 to about 23 per cent in 2025,” he said.
The Minister added that Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of over N18 trillion in 2024, the first in 25 years, while more than $40 billion new investments are flowing back into the country due to renewed economic confidence.
The Kaduna event was attended by stakeholders including market women, religious leaders, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), paramilitary groups, and district heads.
