President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the invaluable contributions of former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, to Nigeria’s development as he joins family, friends, and associates in celebrating his birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday, President Tinubu commended Senator Kwankwaso’s record of public service and his contributions across various leadership roles spanning decades.
He noted that “the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, two-term governor, former Minister of Defence, and Senator representing Kano Central has left a distinct mark on national development through his commitment to public good.”
The President further affirmed that “Senator Kwankwaso’s growing political influence in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Kano, reflects a brand of pro-people politics reminiscent of the legacy of late statesmen such as Aminu Kano and Abubakar Rimi.”
“Senator Kwankwaso remains a friend and ally with whom I served in the National Assembly in 1992 and later as governors in 1999,” he stated.
While noting that Senator Kwankwaso later left the APC to form the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the President remarked that the former governor remains within the “progressive fold,” united by shared ideals for a better nation.
“We also worked together in founding the All Progressives Congress. Although he later left the APC to establish the New Nigeria Peoples Party, it is noteworthy that he remains within the progressive fold,” President Tinubu said.
He wished Senator Kwankwaso good health, long life, and many more years of meaningful service to Nigeria.
