President Tinubu extols Civil servants

The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describes the Civil Service as a hub for the effective formulation and implementation of government policies and programmes for the overall socio-economic development of the nation.

President Tinubu made the remarks at the 2023 Civil Service week Award and Gala night in Abuja, Nigeria.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President noted that his expectation of the Civil Service is high hence the need for it to up its reform initiatives.

He stated that the event was to appreciate the uncommon, exemplary and commendable performances of deserving Civil Servants which will in turn spur the Civil servants to do more.

“This annual ritual is, therefore, essential for the ongoing improvement in service delivery geared towards ensuring good governance, leading to rapid socio-economic development of our dear country.

“The African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) will require a fit-for-purpose African Public Administration to succeed,” which interrogates intra-African trade and productivity of the continent against the backdrop of the ambitious aspirations of Agenda 2063.

“The challenges we face today with governance, leaves no option to continue on the analog front, that is why digitalization is a compelling choice we must make to move forward as a nation,” stated the President.

President Tinubu commended the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan for her vision of a new Civil Service and her resolve to achieve that.
