President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described men and officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces as heroes of Nigeria and pledged continuous commitment to their welfare.

The President stated this on Thursday at the commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks and other newly constructed facilities under the Nigerian Army Special Projects.

“You are our heroes, and I thank you for what you have been doing for this country,” the President stated.

President Tinubu, who noted that the Nigerian military’s service to the nation is remarkable, assured the military of his administration’s continued commitment to improve the welfare of the Nigerian Army.

“What you are doing for Nigeria is remarkable. The only way to appreciate is to continue to show support to the men and women in uniform,” the President added.

He underscored the importance of the welfare of the men and officers of the Nigerian military, noting that the Barracks project aligns with the federal government’s commitment to enhancing troops’ welfare.

“Knowing that the federal government is always ready to provide what the troops need is essential for winning battles,” he said.

The Nigerian Leader further affirmed that his administration will not compromise on the welfare of the troops.

The newly constructed facilities are expected to address the acute shortage of accommodation for personnel of Army Headquarters as well as other Army establishments.

The project, which was conceptualised by Major General Philip Eromosele, commenced on November 26th, 2022, and was fully funded by the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

The current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on assumption of duty, completed the construction of the barracks to forestall the acute shortage of living accommodation for Nigerian Army personnel serving in Abuja. The project was completed on January 9th, 2025.
