President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a high-level meeting with governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday evening at the State House in Abuja, at a strategic session ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 24.
The closed-door meeting, considered pivotal to the future direction of the ruling party, was attended by 24 APC governors and led by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Top on the agenda was the selection of a substantive APC National Chairman, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in June.
The vacancy has generated significant interest among party stakeholders amid shifting dynamics within the APC’s leadership structure.

The NEC meeting, slated for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, is expected to formalise decisions taken at the governors’ consultative gathering and chart the course for the party’s internal consolidation.
