President Tinubu Meets US Africa Command Chief

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday received the Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin Anderson, at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting was attended by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, Rtd Gen. Christopher Musa, the nation’s service chiefs, members of the AFRICOM delegation, and the Charge d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Nigeria, Keith Heffern.

The audience at the State House brought together senior Nigerian security officials and the United States defence delegation for discussions, as part of ongoing engagements between Nigeria and the United States.

Details of the meeting are yet to be disclosed.

Meanwhile, the United States confirmed the deployment of a small team of U.S. military personnel to Nigeria as part of expanding security cooperation between Nigeria and US.

The move was disclosed by General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), and comes amid deepening discussions on counterterrorism and shared defence priorities.
