The Niger State Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the state government to employ 1,000 youths in each ward across the state.
Governor Bago also announced that the Nigerian Government has approved the construction of the Mokwa–Agaie–Lambata road, a major route connecting several local governments in the state.
He made this known during the official flag-off ceremony of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the November 1, 2025 local government elections held in Minna.
According to him, “both the federal and state governments are working closely to end insecurity in Niger and other parts of the country facing similar challenges.”
“We will soon say goodbye to insecurity in Niger State. Both the state and federal governments are committed to restoring peace and normalcy,” the Governor said.
Governor Bago expressed confidence that the APC would win all the local government seats, citing the ongoing development projects and policies under his administration.
He also prayed for a peaceful and successful election, as 24 out of 25 chairmanship candidates received their party flags—one seat still pending due to a court case.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, commended Governor Bago for his leadership and commitment to the progress of the party and the state.
He assured the Governor of the people’s full support, saying: “Niger people will stand behind the governor to appreciate his good work.”
Daji said that other political parties in the state envy the ruling APC, expressing optimism that many of their members would eventually join the party.
He urged residents to show love and support for all APC candidates during the upcoming elections.
Also speaking, the APC National Vice Chairman, North Central, Mu’azu Bawa Rijau who represented the party’s National Chairman, commended the Governor for transforming the state.
He predicted a landslide victory for the APC: “With the good work the governor is doing, APC will win all 25 chairmanship and 274 councilor seats,” he said.
Other party leaders who spoke at the event praised Governor Bago for projecting a positive image of the APC in Niger State and called on citizens to stand by him in his second-term mission to complete ongoing projects.
The ceremony witnessed a massive turnout of party supporters from across the 25 local government areas, as APC officially flagged off its local government election campaign.
