Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Stands for democracy and justice.
The VP made the declaration in Lokoja, Kogi State on Sunday, at the APC campaign flagg off for the gubernatorial election of Kogi State slated for November 11.
He said President Tinubu did not come into power by chance because he had aligned himself with citizens of the country right from time.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not just find himself on power. If you trace the history of Nigeria you will see that he has also stood for democracy and justice as he aligned himself with the people,” said the Vice President.
Speaking further, the Vice President told the stakeholders that he was in the State to represent his principal in flagging off the Governorship election campaign for Kogi State.
He therefore called on citizens of Kogi to vote for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress Ahmed Usman Ododo in order to consolidate on the achievements of the APC government in the State.
VP: Shettima said the natural endowments of Kogi State would be harnessed for the development of the State and nation at large.
He said: “Kogi State is blessed with a lot of natural resources and the people of the State need to align with the government at the center in order to benefit more from these endowments of the State.”
He further stated that there are plans by the Nigerian government to complete the Ajaokuta Steel Development Company to meet the steel needs of Nigeria as well as address the unemployment needs of the State and country.
“Ajaokuta Steel Company which is over 90 percent completed and not too long ago I was in Russia, where Nigeria and Russia discussed a lot on how to complete that project therefore, the people of Kogi need to vote for APC in order to benefit from that when it is completed.
“That company has the capacity to create over 500, 000 jobs and we are determined to achieve that in line with President Tinubu’s agenda of job creation,” he said.
The Vice President also announced that President Tinubu has given his nod for the rehabilitation of Obajana and Okene roads in Kogi State.
Speaking earlier, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello thanked President Tinubu for accepting to flagg off the governorship campaign for his State.
He disclosed that his administration has achieved a lot and it is time for consolidation in order to move the State forward.
“We have done a lot in the area of security, education and health among others. We want to consolidate on that. I am therefore calling on the people of our dear State to vote for our candidate in order to move Kogi State forward,” he said.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, said Governor Yahaya Bello has provided good governance to the people of Kogi State and the State cannot afford to be left behind by giving power to another party different from the one at the center.
Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for Kogi State, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, enjoined the people of Kogi State to clean up their voters card and turn out on numbers to vote for the candidate of the APC in the November 11 governorship election.
The Kogi State APC candidate for the Governorship election, Ahmed Usman Ododo, pledged to carry the people of the State along if elected because he is pursuing what he called Kogi State’s development agenda.
“We will build on the legacies of my mentor, Governor Yahaya Bello. We will give attention to security education, agriculture and health. Our women will also be empowered,” he said.
Other dignitaries at the campaign rally were the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu and members of the National Working Committee of the APC among others.
The Vice President to Kogi State had started with an audience with traditional rulers and other stakeholders of the State, ahead of the November 11 Governorship election.
At the audience, VP Shettima also solicited for support for the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues , the President, Kogi State Traditional Council, Attah of Igala, Mathew Ipaluwa, pledged their support for President Bola Tinubu, as he commended the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, for working hard in addressing security challenges in the State.
