President Tinubu Swears in Chairman of Nigerian Law Reform Commission

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in the newly appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission NLRC, Prof.Dakas C.J Dakas and Dr Uchenna Eugene as Commissioner.

The Chairman of the NLRC Prof. Dakas and Dr Eugene took the oath of office just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.

This followed citation of the two, by Assistant Director of Information, State House, Oche Egwas.

Prof Dakas C. J. Dakas is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Jos. He is also a former Attorney-General of Plateau State.

The Nigerian Senate on July 1, confirmed the appointment of Professor Dakas C.J. Dakas as Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission and Dr. Uchenna Eugene Okolocha as Commissioner representing the South-South.

Before the commencement of the second segment of the Wednesday Council meeting, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume announced the passing of a former council member, Audu Ogbeh, who died on 9th of August 2025.

Akume described the late Ogbeh as a patriot who served Nigeria meritoriously and with dedication.

The council observed a minute silence in honor of Audu Ogbeh, ex-Minister of Agriculture and rural development from 2015 to 2019.

Ogbeh was chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 until January 2005.

He served as the minister of communication in the Nigerian Second Republic from 1982 to 1983.

He was known for his literary works, and authored five plays which include three published works.

Present at the Council meeting were the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Walson-Jack, and ministers.
