Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Nnana Uzor Kalu as a commissioner of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja, was conducted shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
President Tinubu had earlier, on 5 May, sworn in the NASC Chairman, Dr Saviour Enyiekere, alongside twelve other commissioners.
Kalu previously represented Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives during the 5th National Assembly (2003–2007) under the Alliance for Democracy party.
The brief ceremony was coordinated by the Director of Media in the Office of the President, Mr Abiodun Oladunjoye.
Before the FEC meeting commenced, the Council observed a minute of silence in honour of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Minister of Police Affairs, Chris Caleb Olubolade, who passed away on 10 March 2025.
Olubolade had also served as the third military administrator of Bayelsa State before transitioning to civilian politics.
In attendance at the Council meeting were Vice President Kashim Shettima; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; and Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Emmason Imabong.
Also present were cabinet members including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, among others.
