President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Ambassador Desmond Akawor as the Federal Commissioner representing River State on the board of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.
President Tinubu swore in the new commissioner on Wednesday, just before the commencement of the first Federal Executive Council Meeting for year 2024.
The President had forwarded Ambassador Akawor’s name to the Nigerian senate for confirmation on 23rd of November,2023, before taking the Oath of Office.
The new RMAFC Federal Commissioner, who represents Rivers State, was appointed following the demise of the immediate past RMAFC Federal Commissioner, Asondu Wenah Temple earlier this month.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu is currently presiding over the FEC meeting, which is being attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Yemi Esan and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Wednesday’s FEC gathering is also being attended by all Ministers and some other Senior Presidential aides.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume stated before the swearing in ceremony that the first FEC for the year would have conveyed on Monday 18th January, but coincided with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day events.
Recall that the Vice President is currently attending the 2024 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum holding in Davos, Switzerland, hence his absence at the meeting.
