President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to officially inaugurate the 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja within the next few hours.
The high-profile two-day national event, organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), will convene leading voices from Nigeria’s media, political, and governance spheres to deliberate on the theme, “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”
The 2025 ANEC is expected to feature keynote addresses, policy dialogues, and professional sessions focusing on the challenges and opportunities confronting the Nigerian Media landscape in the digital age.
The Guild had announced in a statement that the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar and Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Arise New and This Day newspaper, will be the Chairman of the conference, while Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will be the keynote speaker.
The statement further noted that “Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will deliver the keynote address, while no fewer than 500 Editors from across the country are expected to participate in the two-day event.”
Also expected at the Conference are Governors Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, among others.
The Guild added that eminent legal scholar and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Awa Kalu, Managing Partner of Awa Kalu & Partners, will address participants on November 12, 2025, on the topic: “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics.”
The annual Editors Conference serves as a strategic forum for media professionals, policymakers, and opinion leaders to interrogate national issues and strengthen the role of the media in consolidating democratic governance and national cohesion.
The Nigerian Guild of Editors, established as the professional Association of Editors across print, broadcast, and online media, continues to play a strategic role in advancing ethical standards and defending press freedom in Nigeria.
