The Presidential Campaign Council of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC is making plans to file a cross petition to cancel all votes cast for the Labour Party in the Southeast region in the recently concluded Presidential Election in the country.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council Spokesperson Festus Keyamo who said this during a press briefing at the Campaign Council headquarters in Abuja said they have set up a legal team to handle all legal matters regarding the campaigns.

He added that they have evidence of malpractices in some Southeast States.

Coming from the Southeast in particular where decorum was thrown to the dogs and there was daylight falsification of result and open malpractice.

“So I want to announce to the world that we are also going to be filing a cross petition to cancel the votes of Labour Party in virtually almost all the states in the Southeast” Keyamo said.

Also at the press briefing, the Special Adviser to Nigeria’s President Elect on Media and Publicity, Mr. Dele Alake said electronic transmission of results is not supported by law.

The claim that INEC did not use the BVAS is false. Those who voted across Nigeria, including Atiku and Obi, were accredited by BVAS

“The complaint over the electronic transmission of the result is not supported by law.

“Section 38 of the Electoral Acct 2022 referred to by the PDP and LP has nothing to do with transmission of election results. Section 60, subsection 2 of the Act deals with transmission of results and it is at the discretion of INEC. The Act does not contain any mandatory provision regarding the transmission of results.

In any case, the process of transmitting results from polling units, whether real-time, two days later or at any time, cannot in anyway change the results that have been announced right after the counting in the presence of the parties’ agents and to the hearing of the voters” Alake said.

The Special Adviser further urged the PDP and Labour Party to talk to their supporters to follow the rule of law while acting on any grievance caused by the election.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC of not uploading the results from states on the INEC result viewing portal before announcing them. According to these parties, uploading them would prevent the results from being manipulated.

Due to this Mr. Obi and the presidential candidate of the PDP Atiku Abubakar filed a petition at the Election Tribunal demanding an inspection of election materials.
