Prices of Kerosene, Petrol, witness steady rise – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that average price per litre of household kerosene rose by 0.67percent in August, 2021.

It made this known in its document titled: “National Household Kerosene Price Watch – August 2021.”

The data said: “Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 0.67 percent on month-on-month.”

It noted that it increased by 15.43percent year-on-year to N400.01 in August 2021 from N397.34 in July 2021.

NBS said states with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Rivers (N964.75), Bayelsa (N991.67) and Yobe (N1,061.11).

The document noted that the average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 0.67 percent month-on-month and by 15.43 percent year-on-year to N400.01 in August 2021 from N397.34 in July 2021.

It disclosed that states with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Bayelsa (N255.56), Katsina (N322.92) and Osun (N325.00).

According to the document, states with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Enugu (N494.05), Ebonyi (N489.17) and Cross River (N487.50).

It also noted that States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Plateau (N1,757.14), Sokoto (N1,580.00) and Cross River (N1,533.16).

NBS said average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 1.75 per cent month-on-month and by 8.77 per cent year-on-year to N1,325.39 in August 2021 from N1,302.56 in July 2021.

Meanwhile, the Bureau in another document titled: “Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch – August 2021”, said average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 10.87percent year-on-year.

It added that it decreased month-on-month by -0.58percent to N164.91 in August 2021 from N165.91 in July 2021.

The NBS said States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Niger (N162.00), Borno (N161.71) and Kano (N158.75).

According to the document, average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 10.87per cent year-on-year and decreased month-on-month by -0.58per cent to N164.91 in August 2021 from N165.91 in July 2021.

It noted that States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Abia (N173.14), Ebonyi (N170.13) and Lagos (N168.31).
