‘Prison Break’ star Wentworth Miller confirms he’s autistic
American actor Wentworth Miller has confirmed that he is autistic.
The Prison Break star took to his Instagram handle, stating that he had an informal autism diagnosis a year ago.
“It was a long, flawed process in need of updating. In my opinion. I’m a middle-aged man. Not a 5-year-old,” he said.
“I don’t know enough about autism. (There’s a lot to know.) Right now my work looks like evolving my understanding. Re-examining 5 decades of lived experience thru a new lens.”
“I also want to say to the many (many) people who consciously or unconsciously gave me that extra bit of grace + space over the years, allowed me to move thru the world in a way that made sense to me whether or not it made sense to them… thank you,” Miller added.
Autism is a developmental disorder in which affected persons have problems with their emotions and behaviors, as well as delays in their social and communication skills.
Most people with autism, appear normal, except that, they behave, act and react differently.
The U.S Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that one in 150 8-year-olds in the country are autistic.
Miller, who is also a British citizen, is an ambassador of Active Minds, a mental health charity.
He is best known for his role as Michael Scofield in the seasonal series Prison Break.
