Prominent Nigerians donate to Babangida’s Presidential Library Project

Prominent Nigerians have donated towards the building of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida Presidential Library, to be located in Minna, Niger State.

On Thursday the event of the book launch, an autobiography of the former military president titled; ‘A Journey in Service, served a dual purpose, doubling as a fundraiser for the Presidential Library Project.

The event recorded laudable financial support from the nation’s elite and across all sectors of the economy.

Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, set the tone of the fundraising session of the event with a N5 billion contribution, followed by General Theophilus Danjuma’s N3 billion donation.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, pledged N8 billion over the next four years, reassuring his full commitment to education and national development.

Other major donations included Senator Sani Musa’s N250 million and Mustapha Chike-Obi’s dual contribution—N50 million on behalf of Fidelity Bank and N100 million from his personal funds.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, pledged N50 million, while the Deputy Senator President, Barau Jibrin, contributed N20 million.

Senator Aliyu Wadada, who represented both the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Jibrin, pledged N10 million.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), represented by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced that it would make known collective contributions in March.

Also Present were the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar the All, and Pastor Tunde Bakare, among many other notable Nigerians.

International figures present included former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, who delivered the keynote speech, and former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Also in attendance were 2023 presidential candidates Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
