Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has held an expanded security meeting to address security challenges in the state, particularly in light of the threat of impending nationwide protests.
The meeting included heads of security agencies, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
Held behind closed doors, the meeting reviewed the current security situation in the country with a focus on the looming threat of protests.
Participants shared their perspectives and suggestions on navigating these challenging times to ensure a secure and prosperous Gombe State.
Governor Yahaya emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, stressing that the safety of all residents remains a top priority of his administration.
He urged leaders and security agencies to collaborate closely and develop a cohesive strategy that addresses immediate security concerns and fosters long-term stability and development.
The Governor reiterated the Inspector-General of Police’s position that individuals planning to demonstrate or protest must identify themselves properly and seek the necessary security permissions and protection.
He assured the people of Gombe State that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, is fully committed to safeguarding their well-being.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, the Commissioner of Police, the State Director of Security, the Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, heads of paramilitary organizations, emirs and chiefs, local government council chairmen, religious leaders, and relevant government officials.
