Protest Kano: Groups Welcomes Dialogue, Condemns Use Of Russian Flags

Civil Society and Social Movement Groups in Kano state North West Nigeria, have welcomed the idea of dialogue with relevant Authorities as a means of resolving issues and addressing demands.

The groups were reacting on the nationwide demonstrations where it turned violent in some of the country.

A Social Movement group known as Nigeria Patriotic Front Movement NPFM while addressing the media condemned the use of Russian Flags by protesters in Kano and other parts of the country.

Chairman of the group Abdlumajid Daudu said; “We welcome dialogue, we respect the Constitutional order. We strongly opposed to authoritarian rule and the growing fascist tendencies in some parts of the country.”

The Nigeria Patriotic Front Movement NPFM also called on the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf to investigate the August 1st attacks on peaceful Protesters, public and private properties as well as bring culprits to book.

It said; “We urged Governor Yusuf not to relent, but proceed to let the people’s demands reach the President.”

Another group, Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council (NENYLC) has also condemned the use of foreign flags in Nigerian territory.

The Group’s Vice President Balarabe Rufa’i in a briefing described such actions by some Protesters as unacceptable and treasonable.

The group urged Nigerians to adopt effective methods of protest, citing the risks and limitations of traditional street protests.

The council which commended President Bola Tinubu’s address, expressed dissatisfaction for not addressing the immediate needs of Nigerians.

Rufa’i called on the government to take decisive action on reviving local refineries, adjusting fuel prices, and ensure accountability in government affairs.

The group also advised Civil Society organisations to engage with their representatives and demand accountability in governance.
