The police in Kano State, North-West Nigeria, says it apprehended 873 individuals suspected of committing various crimes during and after the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Kano State Police Commissioner, CP Salman Dogo, disclosed this while providing a security update at the Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
CP Dogo noted that 600 of the 873 arrested suspects have been prosecuted for their involvement in the destruction and looting of government and public properties in the state.
He said the 600 suspected hoodlums were arrested on offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, riot, thefts, mischief, and arson.
While 150 suspects were prosecuted for violating the curfew enforced by the Kano State Government, 6 additional suspects were linked in masterminding the destruction, setting ablaze and looting of the Kano Printing Press (KPP) are undergoing investigation.
Russian Flags
CP Dogo explained that, 76 suspects flying Russian Flags including a Foreigner were arrested.
“In the same vein, we’ve arrested and transfer seventy-six (76) suspects flying Russian flags, including a foreigner to Force Headquarters, Abuja for discreet investigation on charges of sedition, and arrested 41 suspects for other major crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, and other Crimes.”
Dogo said the command recovered two (2) AK-47 Exhibit Rifles and other substantial properties looted by the hoodlums at Audu Bako Secretariat, NCC Office, High Court Complexes, Kano Printing Press (KPP), Super Markets, and other places destroyed by the hoodlums.

He, however, explained that despite the challenges posed by the recent protest, there were no lives lost during the Protest, adding, “We are not aware of any lives lost during the problems”.
Armed Robbery
According to CP Dogo, the Command has arrested four Kidnapping suspects, five armed robbers and 8 suspected car thieves with Two (2) human trafficking suspects adding that they also arrested Twenty-three (23) suspected thugs (Yan Daba)
“We have recovered four AK-47 Rifles and One (1) Beretta Pistol Forty-seven (47) live ammunition, Eight (8) motor vehicles Four (4) sacks containing Exol Tablets and Two (2) Bajaj Boxer Motorcycles,” he said.
CP Dogo added that, the Command recovered Twenty-two (22) cows, fifteen (15) sheep, and four (4) donkeys among others.
He assured the people of Kano state of the commitment of the policy in safeguarding lives and properties.
