Protests: Niger State Government Commends Residents for Choosing Dialogue

The Niger State government in north-central Nigeria has expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders and residents for their restraint during the recent protests, opting instead for dialogue.
Acting Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, conveyed this appreciation in a national broadcast from Minna, the state capital, in response to the conclusion of mass protests across the country.
Comrade Yakubu Garba explained that unity, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue are not just commendable, but it are the very essence of our collective dedication to the progress and development of Niger State.
“I would like to extend our gratitude to the people, old and young, male and female; the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Students Union Government (SUG), National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS), Artisan Association, Traditional Leaders, Imams Forum, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Vigilante Group, Road Transport Union, Marketer Association, and other key stakeholders.
“Your decision to honour your commitment and refrain from participating in the nationwide protest exemplifies your role as true partners in progress,” he added.
He also commended all the security agents for the role they played in ensuring peaceful co-existence remained the bedrock of the state.
“I commend the Commissioner of Police, the heads of other security agencies, and the vigilante group for their relentless efforts and sacrifices to ensure the safety and stability of our communities during this period. Your dedication has been vital in maintaining the collective resolve of our people,” he said.

He also expressed the readiness of the state government to improve the living standards of the people of the state for sustainable economic development.
“Let me assure you that our administration is deeply committed to your welfare and well-being. Initiatives such as selling grains at a 50 percent discount across all 25 local government areas are part of our ongoing efforts to support you. We are here to ensure your security, prosperity, and happiness. We will soon roll out more initiatives that directly benefit our people as we strive to deliver more excellent and more impactful outcomes,” he said.
Comrade Yakubu Garba therefore assured the people of the state that their grievances will be taken to Mr. President for quick action.
“Let me reassure you that the Niger State Government is not just willing but eager to convey your feelings, concerns, and aspirations to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Your voices matter, and we will ensure that they are heard and that your interests are represented at the national level. We will not hesitate to engage with the federal government to address the challenges facing our state and nation,” he added.
The acting governor urged everyone to continue to show understanding and maintain faith in this administration, as the state government is determined to adopt innovative approaches to governance, and is ready to welcome constructive criticism aimed at enhancing the overall development of Niger State.
