Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed has been appointed to handle the first leg match holding in 16 days’ time in Cape Coast.

This comes as the countdown to the epic Ghana-Nigeria confrontation continues in the framework of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Jiyed was in charge when Ghana hosted and beat Ethiopia 1-0 in the World Cup qualifications at the same venue in September last year.

The 42-year-old match official took charge of the 3rd place play-off game Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations last month.

He had also officiated some other Africa Cup of Nations’ matches notably:  Equatorial Guinea vs. Cote d’Ivoire in the group stages and Burkina Faso vs. Gabon in the round of 16.
