Raining season: Expert identifies common health challenges

A medical expert, has identified Malaria, Cholera and Upper Respiratory Tract infections as common health challenges often associated with the raining season and posing threat to the well-being of the people in the society.

Dr. Awoyale, who is the leader of the Rapid Response Team at the State Ministry of Health and also the Deputy State Epidemiologist made the observation at the on-going Community sensitization in Bode Saadu, headquarters of Moro Local Government.

“Raining season often comes with multiple challenges which are essentially relevant to our health and general wellbeing as a community.

“This was the basis for the increased community sensitisation and support for health care services in the identified communities that are usually prone to outbreak of epidemics such as cholera.” He added.

In his remarks, the Director of Public Health in the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatosin Fakayode, who was also with the team on the tour of Moro said, the Ministry was ready to combat any outbreak like cholera just as the concerted efforts against COVID-19 pandemic was effectively accomplished.

Dr. Fakayode assured that, the rapid response team will ensure adequate community sensitisation, noting that access to care would be duly pursued to enable optimum care and attention for any sick member of the community.

He, however, counselled the people on maintaining basic hygiene, hand washing, clean environment, safe waste disposal and utilization of health facilities.

The Community leaders, the Daudu Saadu, Alhaji Olarongbe Gambari at his Bode Saadu residence assured the community that the Ministry of Health will not renege on its mandate for the general health and well-being of the populace.

Alhaji Gambari appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support to the Community and called for more government presence and attention for his Community.

Mallam Abubakar Majaro, a father of three, who attended the sensitisation forum with all his children also commended the response team for the free treatment offered to sustain the lives of the people of the District and Local Communities.

The participants were later trained on how to prepare the oral rehydration solution, adding that locally available options like gari-water can also be used before visiting the hospital.
