Ramadan: Cleric urges Youth to be Self Reliant

Muslims youth around the country has been urged to acquire skills in order be self reliant and steadfast in propagating the development of Islam in the society.

The chief Imam, Masjid Sabilil Hudu Assalafiyya, Damaturu, Yobe state, Sheikh Haruna Umar, made the call during the 9th Islamic Society of Eggonland (ISE) Pre-Ramadan lecture, held at the Central Mosque Nasarawa Eggon local government of Nasarawa state with the theme “Understanding the exegesis (Tafsir) of the glorious Quran: A responsible of every Muslim”.

He encouraged the youth not to depend on anyone but engage in trading, farming or other legitimate businesses accepted by Islam.

“Most of our youth after graduation from school would stay for a long period of time just waiting for white colar job which are not forth coming, why don’t you indulge yourself into farming and doing business that is legit in the society, which would impact not only to you but the entire society,” the Sheikh queried.

Also speaking, His Royal Highness the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari urged the scholars to continue to preach peace and tolerance in the society.

He called on the Islamic scholars to redouble their effort towards transmitting their people with the knowledge gained before, during and after the fasting period.

In his remarks, the Secretary General of the Islamic Society of Eggonland, Abdullahi Umar Galle, said the pre-Ramadan lecture is very crucial as it would help create awareness and let the scholar focus on contemporary issues in the society when giving sermon in the mosque.

He explained that about 104 Imams from around the society were present at the pre Ramadan lecture to gain more knowledge that would be impacted to their various mosque during the Ramadan period and beyond.
