Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has congratulated Muslims in the state for the successful commencement of Ramadan fast, following the sighting of the moon in some parts of the country on Monday evening.

“Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam and the most sacred month of the year in the Islamic culture, in which capable Muslims fast for the period of 29 or 30 days.

“We should during this blessed Ramadan abstain from pleasures and pray to become closer to God. It is also a time for families and people to gather and pray for abundant reward from Allah.

“Ramadan is a period of sacrifice and renunciation as well as reflection and spiritual growth. It is also a powerful symbol of unity, with Muslims around the world fasting simultaneously,” Governor Fintiri said.

He, therefore, urged Muslims in Adamawa to use the Ramadan period to strengthen brotherliness among them and assist the needy in the society by promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

The Adamawa State Governor also appealed to the Muslims to utilize the Ramadan period by praying fervently to God to bring to an end the security challenges bedevilling the country and seek God to guide the nation’s leaders in the act of governance.

Governor Umaru Fintiri prayed for God to grant adherents the ability to utilize every precious moment of this Blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him.
