The Archbishop of the metropolitan see of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins has called on Priests and other religious leaders in Nigeria to leverage the power of social media for teaching and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Archbishop made this call during an ordination of eleven priests in Lagos State, South Western Nigeria.

According to him, cyberspace is alive and active in preaching the word of God.

‘’Preach the word by your mouth, your life and preach the word using the media that the Lord has made available at this time,” he advised.

The Archbishop also called on the government to devise new means of fighting insecurity in the country.

’’Those who have the responsibility of securing our nation with all the security agencies, need to use modern means of fighting crime and criminalities. The new leaders who have been appointed should device new ways of dealing with the situation,” he stated.

One of the newly ordained Priests, Rev. Father Eze Emmanuel expressed joy that the journey he started nine years ago with so much fear and uncertainty ended in praise, praying to God that started the journey to see them to the end.

“I lack words to express the joy in my heart. It has been grace, it has been God, and it has not been easy. It has been a long journey and I thank God that it has ended in joy and praise,” he expressed.

Highlights of the event were the appointment of four new Episcopal Vicars for the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos and some cultural displays.
