Rema’s concert in Malaysia followed his headline performance at the Eden Festival in New Zealand, where he shared the stage with fellow Afrobeats artists Tiwa Savage and Ruger.

The sold-out show in Kuala Lumpur underscores Rema’s superstar status and his significant role in promoting Afrobeats on a global scale.

The Benin-born artist is among the most recognized African musicians in Asia, where his record-breaking hit “Calm Down” achieved remarkable success. This song is notable for being the first Afrobeat track to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify and earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the first song to top the MENA chart.

Rema has had a successful 2024, highlighted by the release of his second album, “HEIS,” which he described as an effort to bring Afrobeats back to its sonic roots. The album features collaborations with fellow Benin City artist Shallipopi and rapper Odumodublvck. Rema has recently submitted the album for Grammy consideration, aiming for his first nomination.
