Reps Honour Late Deputy Chief Whip, Onanuga, Adjourns Plenary

The House of Representatives has honoured one of its own Mrs. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who died on January 15, 2025 by adjourning plenary to Wednesday February 5, 2025.

The House upon resumption of plenary, and according to its tradition in honour of a dead member, urged members to observe a minute of silence in her honour.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr
Benjamin Kalu, who presided over plenary urged members to sign the condolence register as the family of the late Deputy Chief Whip would want to read about her.

The House Leader, Mr. Julius Ihonbvere thereafter moved for plenary to be adjourned to Wednesday, February 5th, 2025.

Lawmakers gathered outside the chamber to sign a condolence register opened for her.

The Lawmakers poured encomium on their deceased colleague praising her for her astuteness, dedication and kindness.

The late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, until her demise represented Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo federal constituency of Ogun State.

She was the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th House and served as the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the 9th House from 2019 – 2023.

In honour of the late Onanuga, her seat was covered in “White” to register her absence at plenary.
