Resident Doctors commend Governor AbdulRazaq’s investment in healthcare

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), has commended the huge investment in the healthcare sector by the Kwara State Government led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the State.

NARD leadership made this known when they paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRazaq at the Government House, in Ilorin, the State capital.

The Governor was also commended for the recent approval of the payment of new hazard and skipping allowances to medical doctors, including 100% CONMESS, not forgetting the timely recruitment of health professionals to fill vacancies created by attrition in the state hospitals.

The doctors formally congratulated the governor on his victory at the last general election and his emergence as the Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), stating that it was a well deserved victory based on his numerous achievements.

They also thanked him for fulfilling the promises he has made to the leadership of the Association which include commencement of Residency training at the general hospital in Ilorin, increment in the Salaries of healthcare workers in the state especially Doctors and payment of improved Hazard Allowance to health care worker same as being earned by Federal Workers.

The Association reiterated that, “These giant strides has shone a glorious light on the healthcare system in Kwara state and laid a bedrock for positive development in the health sector as more healthcare workers will be attracted to the state.”

The delegation of NARD who were represented by its Local Organizing Committee (LOC), included Dr. Babalola Farouq, Dr. Dele Abdullahi, Dr. Femi Oladiji and Dr. Ijaiya Mubaraq, said they were in the Government House to intimate the governor of its 43rd Annual General meeting in Ilorin to be hosted by the NARD of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital between the 24th of September and 30th of September with the Opening Ceremony holding on the 28th of September at De Peace Hall, Ilorin.

The team also used the opportunity of the visit to further seek the governor’s support towards the emergence of Kwara State delegates in taking over the leadership of the Association in the coming conference which will include election process for a new leadership in the national association.

“NARD of UITH will be contesting for three positions; Dr. Dele Abdullahi (President); Dr. Anaduaka Christopher (Secretary) and Dr Ijaiya Mubaraq (Treasurer).”

While thanking the governor for his numerous support for the association, solicited an improved relationship and physical presence at the coming conference.

Earlier, the governor, while welcoming the doctors to the Government House, had commended the leadership and members of the association for their unrivalled cooperation and support for his administration, particularly in the healthcare delivery to the people of the State.

The governor acknowledged the contributions of the leader of the team, Dr Femi Oladiji, thanked the team for the visit and congratulated the candidates from the UITH branch for their expected victories at the coming election with the intention of taking over leadership of the Association in the country.

Abdulrazaq, promised not to rest on his oars in ensuring further improvements in the healthcare sector of the state as well as other sectors.

He alluded to the possibility of his availability at that period and promised the possibility of his physical presence once chanced, while wishing the association and the team well In all future endeavours.
