Rivers Crisis Deepens As Commissioners Resign En masse
The Commissioner for Education in Rivers State, Prof. Prince Mmom, has joined the others who resigned from the state government’s service.
Mmom disclosed this in a letter routed through the office of the Secretary to Rivers State Government (SSG) and to the governor on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
Mmom in his letter, said his resignation was for personal reasons.
“I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner for Education, Rivers State for personal reasons.
“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you for the opportunity given to me to serve in your administration and wish you the best as you carry on with the government of our dear state,” the letter read.

His resignation follows similarly others who had resigned earlier.
Earlier on Thursday, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor, also resigned from office.
Those who have resigned so far, are said to be strong allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers Nyesom Wike and part of his administration as the Governor of Rivers State.
Some of the commissioners stated that they resigned because of personal reasons that may require their immediate attention, while others stated family reasons for their decision.
The commissioners who have resigned include Dr. Gift Worlu (Housing), Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (Justice), Dr Des George-Kelly (Works), Emeka Woke (Special Duties), and Inime Aguma (Social Welfare and Rehabilitation).
Other Commissioners are Isaac Kamalu (Finance), Jacobson Nbina (Transport) and the recent Prof. Chinedu Mmo (Education).
