Rivers State Sole Administrator pledges to restore peace

The newly sworn-in Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibas (Retired), has pledged to prioritise peace, security, and stability in the state.

Ibas made the pledge on Wednesday while addressing State House Correspondents after his swearing-in ceremony performed by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Sole Administrator Ibas emphasised the need to restore law and order in River State, assuring that it is the foundation for any meaningful governance and development in the State.

“First of all, I think we know the circumstances that led to where we are here,” he said, referring to the events that necessitated his appointment.

Vice Admiral Ibas (Rtd) reaffirmed President Tinubu’s directive, stating that the primary mandate of his administration is to work with all stakeholders to ensure stability in Rivers State.

The retired naval chief assured that his administration would collaborate with relevant authorities and the people of Rivers State to restore peace and ensure effective governance.

The ceremony which took place in the President’s office was witnessed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Hakeem Muri-Okunola; and the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
